Nevada Department of Transportation’s first Design Build project was a 5.5-mile section of I-15 that was in need of drastic improvements to accommodate heavy traffic flows along this critical section of the interstate.  Las Vegas Paving and CH2M Hill formed a joint venture (North Corridor Constructors) and were selected to complete the much needed project.  A major project in the heart of Las Vegas, LVP was critical in providing our construction expertise in the replacement of four major freeway bridges, widening of two bridges with the addition of seven ramp bridges, with retaining walls and sound walls constructed throughout the corridor.  The project also included drainage improvements, concrete barrier railing, traffic signals, ITS, median lighting and more than 800,000 tons of Type I Class B, Granular Backfill and MSE Backfill in addition to 430,000 tons of asphalt.  Not only was the project complete 7.5 months ahead of schedule, North Corridor Constructors received the 2010 National Design-Build Merit Award.
