BOULDER HIGHWAY BRT
Las Vegas Paving Corp was the Prime Contractor for the Regional Transportation Commission’s Boulder Highway Bus Rapid Transit CMAR Project. Construction of this BRT project began on March 15, 2010, and was the first public transportation project in Nevada to utilize the Construction Manager at Risk delivery method. This $41.5 Million transit project included the addition of dedicated bus-only lanes which now connect downtown Las Vegas to Henderson with the greatest of ease using the Bus Rapid Transit system. The project required widening and roadway modifications of Boulder Highway and Freemont Street, from 8th Street (downtown) to east of Tropicana Avenue (approximately 7 miles). Twenty-three (23) Transit Stops were installed between 8th Street (downtown) and Horizon Drive (Henderson), including complete traffic signal modifications at twelve (12) intersections, 90,000 LF of fiber optic ITS conduit with cable including Ethernet switches and close circuit cameras for FAST, removal and replacement of curb, gutter, sidewalk and landscape restoration; and extensive drainage improvements between US 95 & Tropicana Avenue. This project was delivered four (4) months ahead of schedule achieving substantial completion on May 16, 2011.
